This Week’s News:
Our phonics focus this week will be Ss (with special lessons on snakes and spiders!). We will use our Browsing Bags for reading and continue to build on our writing skills. Last week we learned to put a period at the end of a sentence. WOW! In Science, we are studying recycling, and in social studies we are discussing problem solving. In Math, we will begin our unit on 2-D shapes. This week for Recipe Friday we will be making “Silly Sandwiches” using various cookie cutters.
Our Word Wall words for this week are review words: is, I, a, red, blue, like
Homework:
- Thanks to those of you who have been reading with your child for 15-20 minutes a night and initialing the date in your child’s folder.
- After the 1st 9 weeks, a paper homework activity will come home each week.
We have had children out this past week with a fever virus, strep throat, and at least 1 confirmed swine flu. Know that we continue to disinfect in the classroom and “pump” the hand cleaner 5 or 6 times a day. Be sure your child is free of fever and symptoms at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Thanks!
